This past Saturday my husbands cub scout pack and my girl scout troop had a field trip to Ano Nuevo near Santa Cruz. We were there for a 3 mile hike to see approximately 2500 seal pups whose mothers have left them to fend for themselves. It was a bit rainy and windy but the dreariness gave way to bright sunshine and the most gorgeous rainbow. As soon as my 7 year old girl saw that rainbow I knew what was coming..."MOM!! Can we make Unicorn Poop?!". Trust me, I've been putting this off for sometime now.
My girl is forever on YouTube looking up cookie recipes. One of her favorites that I've seen her watch over and over again is the multi-colored sugar cookie, or Unicorn Poop cookie. She found them here. We had a great time coloring the dough in 6 colors, rolling them all out and making them into, yes, piles. After they came out of the oven we brushed them with sparkle glaze and sprinkled hearts, sugar and stars on them.
She was so proud of them so we packaged them up and handed them out at church this morning. They were a huge hit and everyone got a kick out of them.
If I'd only known about these in the 80's. No telling how many batches of these I would have baked up back then ♥
